Sant’Angelo di Roccalvecce

Sant’Angelo di Roccalvecce

Sant’Angelo is a very small town in the province of Viterbo located about 20 kilometers from Lake Bolsena (Montefiascone shore) which for some years has been renamed “the town of fairy tales”. The story is very particular as this village a few years ago was in danger of being abandoned. However, the few remaining residents or the owners of second homes have started an artistic project aimed at giving new life to the village and in a few years the fate of Sant’Angelo has completely changed.
The project involved the collaboration with some expert mural artists, starting with the Roman Tina Loiodice and from 2017 to today over thirty fairy-tale-themed murals have been created on the facades of the houses. The first was that of Alice in Wonderland, which later became the symbol of the country, but at least twenty others will soon be added to those already present. This initiative has revolutionized the country on a visual level and revived it, making it gradually become another tourist center in the area.
