WHERE IS IT

Where is the Lake of Bolsena

Lake Bolsena is the largest reservoir of volcanic origin in Europe and the fifth largest in Italy. It is located a few kilometers from Viterbo, in the Lazio region on the border with Tuscany and Umbria, in the territory called Alta Tuscia. Lake Bolsena is about 40 kilometers from the Tyrrhenian Sea and a few from Monte Amiata.

Reaching the area is very simple: if you arrive from Rome, take the Strada Statale 2 or the Via Cassia, and heading towards Viterbo you will have the opportunity to discover the Lazio countryside and the villages that compose it. From the north you can decide whether to go along the coast or explore the interior of Tuscany.

Bolsena is the largest city in the lake area, but there are also Montefiascone, Marta and Capodimonte worthy of a stop.
