Sentiero dei Briganti

The path of the brigands is a naturalistic archaeological itinerary of the upper Tuscia. One hundred km of path immersed in unspoiled and wild nature that involves part of the Monte Rufeno reserve to the north and continues until it reaches the sea of Montalto di Castro. The path of the brigands is a singular path that goes beyond the traditional tourist routes. You can undertake this journey in various ways on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. The path of the brigands is a journey through history that follows the many traces left by the Etruscans. Along the way there are important archaeological sites among the excavations of Vulci. Tradition has it that those who undertake the path of the brigands also have the opportunity to know two particular social categories that carry on ancient crafts: the cowboys and the charcoal burners. On this occasion, those who wish can learn from these men the ancient art of marking livestock and listen to the tales of the ancient miners. The brigands’ path includes seven days of walking dedicated to the discovery of the lands of northern Lazio.
